Outdoor Concert: Thomas Licak / Radek Wosko Quartet, Mar. 21 2015 @ Flamboyant

Jazz on the Beach
A high profile, heavily touring jazz band from Poland and Denmark touring East Africa will be performing at Flamboyant.

Band Composition
Tomasz Licak – Tenor Saxophone
Radek Wośko – Drums – Grand Prix Winner of the 49th Jazz Nad Odrą Festival in Wrocław, Poland, april 2013.
Carl Winther – Piano
Martin Buhl Staunstrup – Bass

Their latest album “Entrails United”, refers to the very essence of the creative process. United is also a word that describes the strength that comes from a common musical development, playing together, communicating through music. It was created by the collision of strong personalities, for whom jazz, improvised music, is a type of binder, a common language, which they perfectly understand.

Chilled drinks and biting will be served at the discounted cash bar.

Beehives for Elephants – A Buzzing Defence, Feb. 6 2015 @ Forty Thieves Beach Bar

Beehives Quiz

Innovative beehive fences have helped communities in Kenya to successfully protect crops from elephants.
Scientists found the hives to be a very effective barrier; elephants turned away from them in 97% of their attempted raids. Conservationists suggest that elephants’ natural fear of bees could settle ongoing conflicts. The hives’ honey also produced additional profits for farmers and protect the endangered Elephants.

OBJECTIVE 30 BEEHIVE’ FENCES
SHIMBA SUPPORT GROUP’ initiative is to build 30 Beehive’ fences in the Kwale district. The project is estimated at KES 150,000/=. The Shimba Support Group need your support to protect farmer’s field and the elephants at once.
