Traditional Future: Dance & Choreography by Anuang’a Fernando

About
How to evolve Tradition towards Modernity without obliterating his tracks, without betraying his roots?

Anuang’a, a self taught Kenyan dancer/choreographer is inspired by Maasai songs and ancestral memory. His dance movements are informed by the powerful Maasai rhythmic vocals. He beautifully transforms the age-old undulating movement into a work of art that will stand the test of time.

His most recent show ‘Traditional Future’ was created at the Studio Akili in Lamu and produced by the fashion designer, Pierre Cardin. It has been shown at the Musée du Quai Branly in Paris and at the Theatre Cucinelli in Solomeo, Italy.
