Olith Ratego is a singer who plays traditional music from the Luo community. He specializes in Dodo, a music genre from the lake region of Kenya, and recently has been experimenting with his own brand of Ohangla fused with electronic music and other conventional music instruments and arrangements.
Olith Ratego has one studio CD to his name titled Osuga, and is currently in the process of recording two CDs concurrently: Wuod Asere – an Ohangla and Electronic Music fusion which is a collaborative effort between Ketebul Music and Dj Yam Yam of No Nation from UK, and a yet to be tilted acoustic Nyatiti based music CD. Achieng’ Nya George from the upcoming Wuod Asere CD has already been released as a single on radio and has received considerable airplay on select radio stations. Wuod Asere is set for release early next year,
Olith has also collaborated extensively with German experimental musician and drummer Sven Kacirek since 2009. In November of 2012, Olith traveled to Dusseldorf Germany, where he collaborated with renowned choreographer Morgan Nardi, providing live music and vocals for Morgan’s dance pieces.
