Am over 45 years, was just wondering if salsa dance can work as a form of exercise? And if so, can you organize a class where the old folk like me can do that instead of going to the gym.

I must admit I come from the Uk and have danced lots but not in Kenya, the only dance I had when I visited was with someone who had taught and he told me to go back and take lessons as I was not good, it had nothing to do with the different lead techniques that you have here. I didnt dance again, my confidence was shattered the only reason he danced with me was because a mutual friend had asked him to.. I did see that there was no integration of the teachers, they just wanted to show how good they were dancing with the good dancers.

Come on Heartz share the love of salsa and your knowledge in the social dancing, freestyle isn’t only for those that are good, it teaches confidence, and enjoyment of the dance. Make sure you dance to the level of the person you are dancing with whether beginner, intermediate or advanced.

Hi, I like the club, the lessons are cool! thought my dancing is still questionable…. The time for lessons, could you change it from starting 4pm – 6pm, to starting 4.30pm -6pm. because I have been there for lessons 3 times and it always started at 4.30pm

This is great, am really looking for something to occupy me during the weekend….my question is i don’t have a partner, so if i came with a girlfriend would we still pay 300/= as a “couple”??

Hey guys…Am the organiser of the above salsa nights and I just wanna answer the majority of the questions by saying that we are at Heartz every SUnday still and will be for a very long time if not forever. The other thing is that i cant specify how long it will take one to learn coz people have different learning capacities obviously. However we give an approximate of ten classes for one to have an idea. WIthin that time you will have learnt the basic steps and a few moves to carry you through a night of dancing. The classes are 300 per couple for 2 hours and they are divided into 4 levels:- beginners, improvers, intermediate and advanced. Whichever level of dancing u’re at you will be sorted! Ambrose i sooo envy you, am not much of a salsa dancer, always say will take up classes but i never do……shyness i guess and i have never gotten any recommendation of a good school/teacher. Now that you have been to the country why salsa flows in the blood, mind telling me what flamenco is? is it similar to salsa.

I have been to the salsa classes at hertz, being a student and there are so many instructors ,i found it so unfair whenever there was the free dancing after 7 where the instructors danced only with the well advanced ladies , why leave your students out ,who do you want them to dance with ,there fellow students who no nothing ,is that developing or encouraging them .
I did a salsa class in Europe ,and whenever there was that free dancing time ,it is a rule that the instructor get a moment to dance with their students ,these gave me growth ,courage,and felt i fitted in the group ,and it made me dance salsa even more.
Benji and your guys ,you make the students who feel better,neglected in your formed group of dancers, bring them in ,don’t just dance with the professional dancers and forget to encourage your students………….don’t show greediness here.What one can learn in 2 months you make it be 5 months ,so that they remain nothing and continue to take classes.

There are 2 salsa schools i have heard of in Nairobi….There is one behind Yaya Centre in Hurligham called Destiny Dance, and there is another one i saw once in a Magazine, nairobi Academy of Dance and Fitness Arts (or smthing akin to that) don’t know where its located but i have a number 0722 228 331.
Been meaning to join as well………never quite got round to it……
